For this interactive story, I organized an Instawalk, or gathering of people who take pictures with their iPhone. A group of about 50 people met in the Mission District of San Francisco to participate. I interviewed the co-organizers, Laurel Powell and Doc Pop, on video and shot footage of the walk itself. 

 

We used the hashtag #instawalksf to organize all of the photos taken during photowalk. To create the interactive map, I used photos from Google Earth and a hand-drawn map, which I scanned into the computer and photoshopped. 

 

Using geotagging, I was able to place the best photos from the walk on to the map according to where the photo was taken. When you click on the green dots on the map, the photo taken in the spot pops up with a caption and link to the photographer's Instagram account.
